European situation of the rice market 2015-2016

The European Commission publishes the situation of the rice market 2015-2016.

The European Commission has developed a market situation in the Committee for the Common Organisation updated to 28 July 2016. the report shows primarily an increase in global rice production which totaled about 746.8 million tonnes for paddy and a production of milled rice of 496 million tonnes, about 1.1% more than in 2015. The 2015/2016 has made the record score of import with a + 18% (relative to imports EU) and + 14% (referred to the EBA imports) than the 2014/2015. For the exports, the decline in 2015/2016 was remarkable: -12% of exports compared to the previous year. The performance of the 2016/2017 EU market could be similar to 2015/2016 just ended.
